About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to have Anja Rauter, an expert in sustainable healthcare design and the instructor of the Advanced Skill Certificate in Eco-Friendly Healthcare Design. Anja, can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to create this course? GUEST: Absolutely! I've seen firsthand how traditional healthcare facility design can negatively impact the environment. I wanted to create a course that empowers professionals to make a difference through sustainable practices. HOST: That's fantastic. In your experience, what are some current industry trends in eco-friendly healthcare design? GUEST: We're seeing a greater emphasis on green building materials, energy-efficient technologies, and waste reduction strategies. Additionally, LEED certification and sustainable procurement are becoming more prevalent. HOST: And what challenges do professionals face when implementing these sustainable practices? GUEST: Cost and knowledge gaps are the most common challenges. However, as the market for eco-conscious healthcare grows, we're seeing more resources and incentives to overcome these obstacles. HOST: That's encouraging. Lastly, where do you see the future of eco-friendly healthcare design heading? GUEST: I believe it will become the norm, rather than the exception. As we continue to combat climate change, sustainable design will play a critical role in reducing the healthcare industry's environmental footprint. HOST: Anja, thank you for sharing your insights and for creating this important course. We're confident it will help many professionals advance their careers while contributing to a healthier planet.
